September Pin-spired!

Posted on 03:10 by Unknown

It's September!  I am so excited to be getting Pin-spired with you this month!

Let's be honest, the summer months are hard to get excited about because we wear the same things over and over again (or at least I do!).  It was three months of shorts, tees, swimsuits, flip flops, repeat.  But now, we're into fall...the prime fashion season.  I've decided to use this month as a transition time.  The weather is still warm but it's time to kick off those flip flops and start thinking about cooler temps.

All of my looks this month are transition looks to get you from summer to fall.

Before we get started, I must tell you this...last year, I had so many emails and comments about both my orange and my yellow coats from Banana Republic...well guess what ladies, they're back!
And this weekend, they are 40% off!

I just love the orange!!

Everything at Banana Republic is 40% off!
I'm kind of flippin' out about this :).

Now...on to Pin-spired...
I used the one and only Sheaffer as my Pinterest inspiration for Look #1.  I styled her Must Have Denim Jacket!

I'm going to be honest, I'm obsessed with this little jacket and can think of 1,698 ways to wear it.  Thank you Sheaffer for finding it and telling me about it.  This jacket is the perfect transition piece!  If you can't find your size in my wash, try the same jacket in this wash (it's just as cute!).

I paired the jacket with my cargo shorts and long-sleeved striped tee.  Perfect for September!

This tee also comes in navy or blue stripe too.

And if I get too warm, I can take off the jacket and I'm still seasonably appropriate with a dash of fall color (and not the neon pink I so adore in the summer).

I paired this look with some heavy cognac colored wedges (which are now really marked down!!!).  But wouldn't my camo Toms have looked cute with this too?!?!

Look #2: Distressed Boyfriend Jeans
I am such a sucker for boyfriend jeans...and I am such a sucker for distressed jeans...so, the combination of the two just makes sense! (And I'm dying over her leopard heels too!)

Again, I layered for September.  This time, I used a little color from my summer wardrobe, but when I paired my green tee with the longer pants and striped tank, it worked!

And another pair of brown wedges :).

Look #3: Shorts and Wellies
Ladies, it's time to buy some Hunter Wellingtons (Erika and Narci, I'm talking to YOU!).

My Wellies were worn so much last year!  Not only are they comfy, they really keep your feet dry and warm, and they never go out of style.  Wellies are classic.

Look at all of the great colors...

My shorts get used one more month before I retire them until spring...I just paired them with a long sleeve boyfriend shirt (and that same striped tank because it's so cute and versatile!).

I love my Mollee V initial necklace and my Love necklace as well :).

I heart my Wellies.

You should totally buy a pair of these babies :).

And I have a few bonus pieces for you this September...
I saw Narci with this scarf on at church a few weeks ago and fell in love with not only the colors but the weight of it. Then last Tuesday, I was walking through the Juniors department and found it myself.  I love, love, love it!  And it's only $18.  The photo online does not do it justice at all!  I will be wearing this all fall!

Leopard and pink...perfection.  (And my nails are OPI Lincoln Park After Dark)

And then look at this fun wrap bracelet I received!  They're from Chloe + Isabel which is a new brand I've fallen in love with.  They have some fabulous jewelry!

I love this leather wrap bracelet too!

I had fun getting Pin-spired this month and I hope you did too!

Don't forget to see how Mel and Sheaffer were Pin-spired this month well!  I'm so excited about September!

Have a wonderful Labor Day weekend!  Don't forget to check out my Labor Day Menu on my foodie blog...

August Pin-spired

Posted on 03:00 by Unknown
Hello friends!

It's August.  It's that time of year when you look into your closet and start thinking about what you won't be wearing again until next May...you start thinking about what staples you'll need to add to your wardrobe this fall and you begin to figure out how to transition your summer clothes into your fall clothes while the weather is still warm.

This month, I took my inspiration from this photo I found on Pinterest...

...navy and leopard and ran with it.

I love my navy skirt because it looks great with bare legs and strappy sandals for summer but it also pairs perfectly with leggings and boots for fall and winter.  It's also a great alternative to black.  I paired my skirt with a boyfriend shirt from Gap...another great transition staple.

The boyfriend shirt can be rolled up and paired with a great pair of shorts or rolled down and layered with a cute jacket and jeans.  It is comfy, easy to wear and a great closet staple no matter the season.

I also changed out my polish from the bright pinks and oranges of summer to OPIs most popular shade, I'm Not Really A Waitress, for a more toned down (almost to fall) kind of shade.

And of course my leopard pumps.  Leopard is a neutral.  Trust me.  Between my leopard booties and my leopard heels, I wear leopard a lot on my feet.

Since it's August and summer is coming to an end, I decided to recap some of my favorite Pin-spired staples from the warmer months of spring and summer...because so many of them are on sale right now!  If you haven't checked them out before, now is the time!

I know.  I talked about these wedges on Tuesday...and I'm talking about them again.  But when I think back on the summer of 2013, I will think of these wedges.  If the putty color isn't your fave, then check out the other three colors too.  Summer is ending but seriously, these wedges would look so cute under skinny jeans or cropped pants for fall too.

And then there are these white shorts from Gap.  I have worn them to death!  They have the perfect amount of stretch in them, so they fit comfy and hold their shape.  You can also find them on sale right now plus the navy top and striped tank (both of which are in other colors as well).

And then there are my Wellies.  Oh, how I love my Wellies.  They are comfortable, easy to walk in, warm and truly keep your feet dry.  I'm really in love with the new fall colors that they have out right now.  Click here to see the entire line of fall Wellies.

Ohhhh!  And my J Crew Chino Shorts!  Please tell me that when you see a pair of colored shorts, you think of me?  Maybe that should go on my tombstone?

Here lies Shay Shull.
She loved short colored shorts.
And she's buried in them now.

That about wraps up August Pin-spired!  Make sure you check in with Mel and Sheaffer to see how they've been inspired by Pinterest this month.

If you missed what I posted on Tuesday, I listed everything I like to wear/read/take on a trip and a lot of it included really practical summer essentials that are on sale right now.  Click here to check it out.

Don't forget to link up below!  XOXO

July Pinspired

Posted on 02:39 by Unknown

And it's July!  My least favorite month of the year.  I'm sorry...but it is.

I live in Texas.  June is hot but it's fun hot because it's the first of summer (first swim, first shorts, first snow cone, first everything)...but by July...I'm over it!  August is great because pre-season football starts, the September issue of Southern Living arrives and coolness starts to creep into my mind (it doesn't actually creep into the air but if I close my eyes, I can pretend it's coming).  July is just 31 days of heat.

However...thanks to Mel and Sheaffer, I am taking July as a wonderful opportunity to dig into my closet, get creative and pull together some outfits to keep me looking good despite the nasty weather.  We're getting Pin-spired today!

I want to look patriotic this July 4th without looking like I wrapped myself in the American Flag...so, I took my cues from this Pinterest photo...subtle and sophisticated and most certainly red, white and blue.

Easy to recreate out of my closet, white shorts, red striped tank, chambray shirt (like) and navy wedges (like).

My nails are OPI Cajun Shrimp (thanks to all of your suggestions!).  I love it!  Because I'm blond, I think I look best in gold or rose gold jewelry. You really won't ever see me in silver.  Click here for a great gold watch option.

Mollee V made my necklace.  Love, love, love Mollee V!

And now for outfit #2.

I'm sure you guys all think my favorite colors to wear are neon pink, neon coral, neon orange, neon yellow, neon purple...because I do love my neon colors.  But actually, my 3 favorite colors to wear are pink, green and navy.  I decided to remove pink (because you have all seen 3,678 pictures of me in pink) and just wear navy and green.  This was my inspiration photo...

And this is how it worked out. (Do you see my monkey portrait in the background there?  It's actually really something special...and I love it to pieces but the crew of the Bachelor thought my mom and I were insane for having these paintings in our homes!  She has one and I have two.  I love my monkeys!)

I'm wearing those same white shorts...I really, really love them!  And right now, they are marked down sooooo much at Gap!  A pair of white shorts will last you years and years...and as you see today, they can go with everything.

I also love these striped tanks from Gap (which are also on sale!).  And click here to see my navy top (lots of other colors and they're on sale now!).

Not the best photo of my foot but I wanted you to see my shoes. I bought them two years ago and wear them all the time.  A great neutral shoe will last years and years!  Click here for similar options.

Don't forget to link up below...we love seeing how you were Pin-spired this month!  (And I would also love to know what your least favorite month is...I know everyone has one month they like the least!)

Don't forget to head over to my foodie blog...today is my suggested July 4th menu!  You don't want to miss it!

Lots of love to you this July!

June Pinspired

Posted on 03:00 by Unknown
It's our June edition of Pin-spired!  Let's face it...if I get out of my swim suit this month, we'll consider that a miracle in itself.  Here are a couple of my Pinerest inspired creations for the month (make sure you check out Mel and Sheaffer's recreations too!)...

I have been wearing a scarf with my shorts for years and years.  A light scarf is nothing more than a big necklace (it's not for warmth during the summer...it's just an accessory).  In fact...one of my friends (Sheaffer!) used to mock me for it...and now look who wears them all.the.time...

My mom bought me this light weight scarf in Boston.  If you're not in Boston, check out another great light weight scarf  here.  I love, love, love J Crew's new cap sleeve vintage cotton tees.  They are the perfect weight and fit.  (They also come in v-neck and crew neck too).

I paired it with my olive colored shorts and my favorite wedges (of course!).

A butterfly scarf and pink shirt just makes me happy!

If you haven't noticed yet...I like stripes on my shirt.  In fact, if you pay attention...you'll probably rarely see me without a striped shirt on!  This pic was my inspiration (striped shirt, shorts and tall shoes).

I love a stripe shirt (with my tank peaking out) and of course, J Crew 3" chinos.

My Steve Madden wedges :)

Now...I talked about this beautiful lady on April's Pinspired.  It's the fabulous Courtney Kerr (fashion blogger, reality TV star and now...jewelry designer for BaubleBar!).  I found this pin where she is modeling her new jewelry for BaubleBar.  Stunning.  Both her and the jewelry.

And looky at what Courtney sent me in the mail...two gorgeous necklaces from her new (really affordable!) line.

Such fun mail!

And here I am wearing one of them.  It was love at first sight.  Thank you Courtney!

Don't forget to link up below!
We love seeing how you got Pinspired this month.  And if you're looking for something yummy to make for dinner this weekend...I have you covered!  Check out my easy twist on a burger...
