Smith's first Par-Tee!

Posted on 17:13 by Unknown
My baby had his first birthday party today!!!  We had a PAR-TEE!

He wouldn't stop waving at my mom holding the camera.  THIS was the best picture.  And this picture stinks!

Paisley's first family party!!  We were so happy she made it for the big day.

Smith checking out his cousin Paisley.

Brand new Gigi with her Paisley

We had a long putt contest to win a prize.  You had two attempts to make it down the hallway into the little cup.

 The gallery watching Sean putt.

My family prides itself on being very good at golf.  Everyone plays and plays often.  However, my dad's dad (who is 85 years old) never, ever plays...and yet he won the long putt contest :).  Papa is kissing his "trophy".  Congratulations Papa!

The first present Smith opened was a card (followed by the gift) Papa and Mimi brought him.  After that, all he wanted was his card.  That was his very favorite present.

 With his card.

 And again with his card.

 More card

The card is there in his lap :)

Ohhh...Lovie and Papa Jay bought him a remote...now, he's excited!

 What?!  I get cake?

 The proud grandparents :)

So, Smith's first party was a success!  I'm so glad we were able to celebrate with my sweet family plus new Paisley.  Why golf?  Well...we live on a golf course and every day, we pick up a ball or two (or three) and stick them in a bucket, so I had a million balls.  Plus, my Granddaddy LOVVVVVVED golf (my Grandmother listed his golf buddies as survivors in his obituary) and since Smith William carries his name, I thought the golf theme was very appropriate.

We love you Smith!  Happy first birthday party!

Thursdays

Posted on 11:06 by Unknown
I've always said that Thursdays are my favorite day of the week.  They're like "mini" Fridays.  Since Kensington is in pre-school on Tuesdays and Thursdays, I get extra Smith time on my favorite day.  I love, love, love my Smith time.  Today, we ran a lot of errands getting ready for his big birthday and then came home to have lunch with Daddy.  I love you sweet Smith!

This was us in Hobby Lobby.  He's saying "I thought we only came in for one thing mommy, why did we buy so much?".  It's Hobby Lobby son...I can't help myself.

One more thing, today is his very first day to wear size 12 month pants out of the house.  Mr. Smith has a tiny waste and has been sporting his 6 month pants for many months.  Today, I thought the 6 months were too short, so he would have to make the 12 monthers work.  (I know my mom is very happy because she has bought him several pair of super cute 12 month pants).  They stayed up all day and looked very good on him :).

Oh the weather outside is frightful!

But the fire is so delightful.

And since we've no place to go,

 Let it snow!

Meet Paisley

Posted on 12:01 by Unknown
On Saturday, we took the kids over to officially meet Paisley (since they were sound asleep when she made her grand arrival Wednesday morning).  Welcome to our family sweet girl!

Paisley's mama and grandmama both own children retail shops, so needless to say this child will lack for NOTHING in the clothing department.  This is a snap shot of her walk-in closet.

And this is a shot of her top drawer open (I took pictures of the second and third drawers but didn't want to overwhelm you with the insane amount of girly clothes).

And for grins, we put one of Paisley's hats on Smith :).

Rapunzel

Posted on 14:24 by Unknown
My sweet friend Sarah inspired me to get Kensington her first haircut.  When I told Kensington that we were getting it cut, she cried and said that Rapunzel has long hair, so Kensington needs long hair too.  I reminded her that Rapunzel does finally cut her hair (and looks quite cute), so she agreed.
Here is her hair after a bath the night before.  Isn't it sooooo long?  I was a baldy baby until at least 2, so this hair was a surprise to my family.

My mom, Smith and I took her to the salon for her big cut.

 Admiring the new 'do' :)

Now that it's shorter, she LOVES it.  She made a special effort to make sure Miss Erika noticed it this morning at school and she told me that Helen was going to "freak out" when she saw it yesterday.  I totally have a girl!

Paisley Marie Brooks

Posted on 04:55 by Unknown
At 4:00 this morning, my sweet cousin Casey gave birth to her baby girl Paisley Marie Brooks Higginbotham (what a name, right?).  I am so blessed to have spent the entire night in the hospital waiting room with my sweet family.  I showed up at 10:00 PM and got home at 6:30 this morning.  Congratulations Brandon and Casey!  We love you and Miss Paisley so much!
