Shay's day (well...the first half at least)

Posted on 11:49 by Unknown
My day so far...
I am the quintessential morning person.  I'm up at 5:30 ready to do some work before the kiddos wake up (Andrew is up at 4:50, so he even beats me.).

After a little work, I pick up my group's latest Bible study book and read.  (Very good book by the way!)

 Then it's coffee time!

Around 7ish, my little ones wake up.

Andrew bought K this Ariel with "Rapunzel hair" Barbie doll last night.  She's in love.

Then I watched Smith play with trucks (while wearing truck pjs).

And Kensington finishes an episode of Dora before heading out for the morning.

We've arrived for our workout with friends!

By the end of class, little Smith is sound asleep in the stroller.

Then it's home for lunch with my 3 favorite people (and Tulip).

 Showing me her carrot.

 I love this guy!

After lunch, Daddy heads back to work and we play outside.

When your mama is an interior designer, she is EXTREMELY helpful with ideas and suggestions.  She never over-steps her welcome, but always helps when asked.  However, on occasion, she insists I do something.  This spring, she has insisted I replace all of my patio furniture and update it (it is all 6 seasons old, so it is really time).  Here is my new table and umbrella with accessories.

And she was super, super sweet and bought me two lanterns to finish things off.

I don't even really care for blue but I fell in love with this blue chair and bought two.  So cute with the new pillows.

He's still playing with his trucks.

Garden hose around the neck?  Why not?

We ended with a walk around the neighborhood and popsicles.  Now they're napping and I'm off to fold laundry.

House divided.

Posted on 12:28 by Unknown
I have a sad confession to make.  I live in a house divided.  You see...me and all my wisdom, cheer and support the Boston Red Sox while my sweet (and slightly ignorant) husband Andrew loves the New York Yankees.  I know...it's pathetic, right?  We don't want to indoctrinate our children too early.  We're going to let them grow up knowing both teams, and then they can make their own choice on who to support (if they love their mama, they'll choose the Red Sox) when they're adults.  My children are very wise, so I'm 100% sure they'll make the right decision.  In the meantime, however, I have to allow their wardrobes to consist of both ball clubs' apparel.  Yesterday, we busted out little Jeter.

He's so cute, he's able to makes that jersey look good :).  The good news is that I'm a stay at home mom, so I get the opportunity to brainwash teach my kids about the Red Sox 24/7 where Daddy has limited access.  Only time will tell...

Outside

Posted on 11:09 by Unknown
Lately, we have been outside A LOT!  In fact, if we're home, we're outside.  After lunch today, we went out back to play until nap time.
My two little ducks following each other around.

(FYI: Kensington did have leggings on up until we went outside.  It was just easier after lunch and potty time to keep them off,)

Smith is such a big boy!  He loves pushing his cars and trucks around.

She wanted me to take a picture of "the handsome prince".

Batting 1.000

Posted on 03:20 by Unknown
My sweet friend Sheaffer reminded me yesterday at lunch that I was indebted to her for all of her wonderful advice.  She said she was "batting 1.000" with me.  It sounds kind of cocky but I have to admit...it is so true.  Lately, Sheaffer has been on a roll with wonderful advice on things to purchase and places to eat.  Since today is Miss Sheaffer's birthday, I thought I'd honor her with her four best recommendations.  Ironically, two have to do with hair and two have to do with food.
A TIGI devotee for years, Sheaffer recommended that I start using Redken All Soft Shampoo and Conditioner on my hair.  Let me tell you...LIFE CHANGING.  I love it.  LOVE IT!
Sheaffer also insisted recommended I buy a new Chi Hair dryer.  (What I really mean is that she drove to my house, told me to buy one that very day, insisted I call her when I bought it, then insisted I call her after I used it to tell her how smart she was for recommending it to me.)  Let me just tell you, I bought it, I used it, I called her and thanked her for sharing such a wonderful secret with me.  Who knew the King of flat irons could make such a fantastic hair dryer.  The best part is that it has cut my drying time in half.  It's not a cheap dryer but well worth the investment (and right now at Ulta, they're on sale).

Now, Sheaffer didn't introduce me to Nothing Bundt Cakes (I've been visiting them for years) but she did turn me on to ordering the petite little bundlets for a nice afternoon treat.  If you haven't tried one before, I highly recommend the lemon.  So yummy!  Andrew's favorite is the red velvet bundtlet and Sheaffer's is the cinnamon swirl.  Honestly, you can't go wrong.

And finally, one day Sheaffer called me insisting that she had just eaten the best piece of coconut cream pie EVER.  She went on and on and on about it.  She said we were going the next day so I could try some too.  I mean, I love coconut cream pie but the best?  I was doubtful.  And I was wrong.  Spoons diner in downtown McKinney makes the absolute BEST coconut cream pie EVER.  EVER!  I love it.  Sheaffer was soooo right.

Needless to say, if you see pictures of me in the future with amazing hair and an extra 20 pounds, I have my good friend Sheaffer to thank.

Happy Birthday girl!  What would I do without your wisdom?

Andrew turns 30!

Posted on 03:45 by Unknown
On Saturday, my sweet husband turned the big 30!!
Here we are having lunch at Spoons (yummmmmmmy!).
An attempt at a group picture.  So bad.  The kids were way more interested in the giant planter Kensington was standing on than anything else.
Saturday night, we headed to my mom's house for a birthday dinner.

Playing with the balloons

In honor of the big 30, my parents created "Andrew Pictionary".  We played girls against guys and all of the clues were either things that had to do with Andrew or his birth year.  This was my favorite part of the night (next to the cake of course).

Yum!  Red Velvet, Andrew's favorite.
Look at these two laughing

Kensington asked her Aunt Casey if she could hold Paisley.  She looked panicked the entire time.
Our sweet Paisley
Then Kensington asked if Paisley could watch Tangled with her.  This was their first time to watch a movie together :).  Here she is covering her up.  She shared her special pillow and blanket with her.

How cute are they?!

And last but not least, this was the Rangers opener weekend and guess who they played???  My Red Sox!  My dad and I were able to go to Friday and Sundays games to cheer them on.  It didn't go so great for my Red Sox, but the good news is that baseball season is lonnnnnnnng.  We have plenty of time to make up for the weekend.  (But look at our awesome seats!  13th Row behind Home Plate!)

Happy Birthday Andrew!  We love you so much!
