i-Phone Life without Andrew

Posted on 04:12 by Unknown
Andrew was out of town a large part of the week, so it was just me and these too...

A boy, a butterfly and a couple of popsicles.

Speaking of popsicles...Kensington wanted to pose with our Poppy Popsicle before heading out for the day.

That night, we had a picnic in the family room.

Dinner is just so much fun when eaten off a beach towel picnic blanket.

My girl is pony obsessed!

My boy doesn't get the pony obsession.

Lovie took the kids for cupcakes one day...he seems happy, right?!

I took them to Chick-fil-a for a little fun time.

Nothing beats the free ice cream at Chick-fil-a!

Examining his spoon?  Who knows?!

Then last night, Daddy was back home and we went out for ice cream after Meet the Teacher Night.  I just crack up when I see Kensington's face in this picture.

Have a great Labor Day weekend!!

Snow Cones with a Popsicle

Posted on 04:21 by Unknown
Andrew was gone last night, so I decided to take the kids out for snow cones after dinner...even the furry kid.

I was beyond excited when Smith ordered a white snow cone.  Let's just say he's not the most careful snow cone eater, and I didn't want to be spending my night with OxiClean!

Sweet girl wanted a red snow cone to match her red dress :)

Smith looks cute...me...not so much.  I'm trying to hold Smith, the leash with a puppy attached to it and the camera.  But I just love my boy!

At this point, I've let Smith and the dog go play by the busy street and cars, so that Kensington and I can pose for a picture.  (OK...maybe not.  Just a random peaceful moment.)

A Popsicle who also enjoys a snow cone.

We missed you Daddy!

i-Phone Life

Posted on 13:44 by Unknown
I got an i-Phone.  This may not be shocking to you because it's 2012 and everyone over the age of 8 has one...but I didn't.  I had a Blackberry for three years but Andrew made me break up with it and so now, I'm dating an i-Phone.  My favorite feature, Pinterest :)...my second favorite feature...how easy it is to take pictures with it.  Here are some pictures I took last week with my new i-Phone.

I had some very precious cargo in my car this week...my kids plus the 2 Slaughter kids.  It was so much fun!!  (At first, it was like herding cattle but once I had them strapped in and locked down, it was a lot of fun!).  They were so good and just talked, talked, talked...however, we arrived at our destination and had to wait in the car for 20 minutes, so I turned Aladdin on.  Three of them are watching Aladdin, one is making a face at me...can you guess which one? :)

I have said this a thousand times...my absolute favorite day of the year is the day my September issue of Southern Living arrives.  Seriously.  You can ask my husband.  And my mother.  It's better than my birthday and Christmas.  When I go to the mailbox and see it in there, the clouds part and the Lord shines down on me...I swear.  This issues tells me that the hot summer is over and fall is arriving...pumpkins, cocoa and Christmas lights are in my future...I love this day.  It was last Wednesday.  The clouds parted people.

I looked over at Kensington during lunch on Saturday and saw this sweet face...she is wearing a headband, bracelets and a scarf.  She is her mother's daughter.  Accessories are my life (and yes, nail polish counts as an accessory...she was wearing green sparkly that day as well).

This face is just a mess.  Lovie made him brownies.  He was in heaven!

I sent this picture to Sheaffer.  The text said "someone needs to take my Visa away".  I wasn't joking.  It should be removed from my wallet and not returned.  Before this day at Bath and Body Works, I had already purchased 4 of those large pumpkin caramel latte candles and 10 bottles of the Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin soap and/or lotion...but for some reason, I keep buying more.  Right now, seriously, someone come get my Visa...just don't touch my candles or lotion.

I went in to check on Kensington before I went to bed and she was sound asleep wearing two scarves and bracelets.  Sweet girls wants to be fashionable even while sleeping.  Don't worry...I removed the scarves from around her neck before I went to sleep.

Andrew and I had a date night last week and I worked a little at Barnes and Noble while we were out...my life is pretty good...I get to work on travel and food...how did I manage to turn my two favorite hobbies into a career?  I'm not quite sure but I thank God every day that he's allowing me to.

That was last week via the i-Phone.  Here's hoping for another great week ahead!

Smith goes to the ER

Posted on 05:23 by Unknown

On Sunday night, Smith woke up from his nap with a fever and complaining of head and neck pains.  I called our good friends the Smiths (who are both in medicine) and asked them what to do...Sarah told me to bring Smith to her house for a quick temp check and exam.  (We joke that the Smiths should charge a co-pay at their front door because it's a revolving door of our friends and their kids with medical problems!)  Anyway, Sarah called her hubs who was luckily working in the ER that night and he said for me to bring Smith in.

Side note: I am not a "take your kid to the doctor for every little thing parent".  To a fault, I am not!  Kensington walked around with a broken arm for SIX DAYS before I took her to the emergency room.  Sheaffer swears Smith had bronchitis last winter but I never took him in.  I'm just not a medical worrier...if you met my mother, you would understand.  We had to be bleeding from the eyeballs to get medical attention growing up :).

But lucky Smith, got to visit the ER...

...and he had the BEST TIME EVER!   This is him showing me his 4 stickers he received.  He also got a green Popsicle, to meet 3 firemen, 1 police officer, 2 doctors, a nurse, got to watch the Lion King in his own private room and stay up way past his bedtime.  He loved it!  He was fine by the way...they wanted to make sure he didn't have meningitis (because of the head/neck complaining) but he just had a mild ear infection.  By the time Dicky came to check on him, Smith had already received a second round of Tylenol and was practically swinging from the rafters in his little room.  He has already asked to go back to the ER several times.

I took two other really cute pics of his smiling face but Blogger isn't publishing them and I'm tired of messing with it...just imagine his cute face :).

Thank you Sarah and Dicky for first of all, always taking care of our sweet kiddos and second of all, for giving Smith the time of his life.

Thank you Andrea :)

Posted on 13:56 by Unknown
Don't you just looooooove my new blog design?!?!  I do!!  My sweet, sweet friend (let's face it...one of my very closest friends) Andrea at Slightly Askew Designs created it for me.

Here's the thing about me and Andrea...Andrea secretly works for me as my creative force/technical assistant/master of design and logos...she just doesn't know it.  She thinks she's a junior high math teacher but the 65 times I call her a day prove otherwise.  One of these days, she's going to have a desk right here in my office next to mine...I'll break her...just give me time.

Andrea doesn't just do blog designs, she also does cards, announcements, party decor...the list goes on and on and on.  Contact her for your next creative thing...she'll do an amazing job...oh wait, don't call.  If you call her then she'll start working on your stuff instead of mine...that might not be good for me.  Never mind, Andrea isn't good at all.  She's the worst ;).

Love you Andrea McAnally!!

And every great brand deserves a fantastic logo...Mix and Match has her's...

Again, thank you Andrea!

Beauty Shop

Posted on 03:55 by Unknown
On Wednesday, Kensington had her hair cut for the 4th time in her almost 4 years.  Every other time, she's just gone in and they've snipped it while it was dry and that was it.  This time, however, she received the full on beauty shop treatment...
First, she was shampooed.

Then her hair was cut while wet.

Smith entertained himself under the dryer :).

Then she had her first "blow out".

Such a pretty girl!!

I can't believe that in less than a month my baby will be four!  Where has the time gone?!?!
Love you baby!

Happy Birthday Casey!

Posted on 04:40 by Unknown
On Friday night, we celebrated Casey's birthday.  Like I said before, it's birthday season people...prepare yourself.

At first, I had my uncle take this picture of me and sweet Paisley, but then I decided to spice things up a bit and take pictures of the guests with me by myself instead...after all, it's my camera, my blog, my memories of the party...I should be in all of the pictures, right?  I think so. (Oh...and excuse the blah background of the pic above...my mom is remodeling my aunt's foyer and dining room and well, it's blah right now as they pick paint colors, etc.)

Swanky

Posted on 13:32 by Unknown
My sweet friend and fabulous photographer Narci D asked me if she could use Kensington as her model for a contest hosted by the clothing line Swanky Baby Vintage. She said she needed a brown haired, blue eyed, size 3T girl and that so happens to perfectly describe Miss K.  Well, well, well...the pictures were soooooo good!  So good in fact, that I asked sweet Narci to photograph Smith as well.

The funny part about the photography contest was that there were 19 models and people were to vote on Face Book for their favorite.  I noticed that K was #6 out of 19 models, so I called Narci and asked her how important it was for her photo to win...I could tell that it was pretty important, so I told her I would make it happen.  What did this savvy mama do to ensure that her daughter's picture won the contest?  Well, I called my little brother of course, and had him tweet it out to all of his "friends".  Thirty-five minutes later, K was in first place....by a mile.  So thanks to Uncle Seanie, we won the contest.  Gotta love an uncle with a lot of friends who will happily help.  Thank you Narci D Photography!

Love!
